Dee Remey

Meet Dee Remey! Dee has been a resident of Volusia County since the mid-1980’s and currently resides in Ormond Beach. She is a loving mother of four children (Alex, Austin, Lunden & Grace) and two fur babies (Buffett & Precious). Dee is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina and came across the Daytona Beach area on a road trip with a girlfriend more than thirty years ago. She fell in love with the beaches and the warm weather and never looked back! Dee is a graduate of NC State and has her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Stetson University. Today she owns and operates multiple investment properties around the Daytona Beach area and is always looking for a good real estate investment. Dee loves to spend time at the beach, loves day-trips to St. Augustine, New Smyrna Beach, and Orlando.
We recently sat down with Dee to talk about her life and her love for East Volusia County.

Question: What led you to your current career?
Answer: “Well, reading Rich Dad Poor Dad helped me see an opportunity to invest in real estate and at the time, the Daytona Beach area was ripe for buying undervalued homes that would cash flow. So it was a really good time to invest in real estate.”

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in East Volusia County?
A: “So I really like Blau because I really like the vibe there and I really like the menu, the food is great. I also like Hyde Park because I like sitting outside especially in the summer when they have concerts at the Bandshell by the ocean.”

Q: Who is the most interesting person you have met in East Volusia County and who would you nominate for the Faces of East Volusia?
A: “Definitely Jill Simpkins as a nominee. She may also be the most interesting person I’ve met here. She’s so involved in the community and has given so much to the community and is very inspiring as a successful business woman.”

A: “The mountains of North Carolina, that’s always top on my list.”

A: “My favorite type of music is probably jazz. Three of my favorite artists are also Michael Buble, Brian Colbertson, and Nora Jones.”

Q: What current or former business makes you feel nostalgic about East Volusia County?
A: “The Old Ormond Garage, that is about to become a brewery, makes me feel very nostalgic about the racing era that made this area famous.”

Q: If you could have lunch with anyone right now, who would it be and why? Where would you take him/her in East Volusia County?
A: “Probably Robert Kiyosaki because I love his books and I’d love to just pick his brain for two hours about forward thinking trends and where he sees this economy going. I just love his entrepreneurial spirit. I’d probably take him to Hyde Park.”

A: “This area is a low-key, beautiful part of the east coast that is not really crowded.”

Q: Where do you see yourself in ten years?
A: “Hopefully playing with lots of grandbabies, taking them on mountain expeditions! And having some sort of ministry that I’d love to get my grandkids involved in as they grow older.”

Q: What is something interesting that most people do not know about you?
A: “Most people probably don’t know that I have a Master’s in marriage and family therapy.”
